Mmonwu is Igbo for masquerade.

  1. While growing up till now,i was meant to believe that mmonwu is spirit, that the wearer of the masquerade is spirit. This was all in the bid to instill fear into us as kids so that we don't get close to the masquerade. Nice one. I do enjoy traveling to my village every January,2 just to watch the mmonwu. They come out in large numbers, bringing people of neighboring village together. What more is as beautiful as togetherness? That is what the rich african tradition portray.

    1. What sort of talk is this? Who is this self-proclaimed mmonwu lover who comes here to open their mouth and talk about "the wearer of mmonwu"? What blasphemy! The masquerade in your village in your village masquerade; I don't know your village, so I don't dispute what you ere told as a kid neither do I disagree with your village idea of masquerade. But mmownu are spirits, the ancestral spirits of the community; like the blogger said, the spirits of the living-dead. Maybe you were too excited to notice that he's talking about mmonwu and not your village masquerade.

  2. Thanks for noticing my comment, but did you bother watching the clip on YouTube?I commented based on the clip that I took time to watch as the blogger attached the video clip to buttress his topic. And you are right: You don't know my village. So if you don't mind, watch the video clip and tell me where I went wrong in my first comment and don't be too quick to condemning people's opinion.
